VIRGINIA GOV. Highlights Need for Campus Due Process. Supports New Title IX Regulations.

The former Democratic governor of Virginia recently issued a public statement supporting the new Title IX regulations which strengthen due process protections.

Governor Wilder is a professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, and this past year Wilder was accused on four counts of sexual misconduct by a student at Virginia Commonwealth University. Wilder was put through the Kangaroo Court wringer, and was eventually found to be “not responsible.” The governor criticized how the university handled the claim against him over the past seven months, stating that he has been cleared, while suggesting that the school has “no consistent process” by which it investigates these matters. “So much of this process has been in the dark and has revealed policy violations.”

The university still claims that Gov. Wilder has not officially been cleared of the finding, stating that the final judgment on the matter rests with a senior university official. But at a press conference, Wilder said a three-member panel had cleared him.

Governor Wilder endured a Title IX kangaroo college hearing just like thousands of innocent college accused males before him. Now that Wilder has endured the Title IX injustices of being presumed guilty first while denied due process, the governor is speaking up. Governor Wilder recognizes the need to make ‘due process REAL’ and supports Betsy DeVos’ new Title IX regulations which include due process protections.
