Sen. James Lankford takes on federal education officials for ‘threatening’ letters to colleges, universities

Lankford said federal education officials have claimed authority over the matters “at-large” under Title IX…new policy mandates by the Education Department actually expand the scope of Title IX  “to infringe on constitutionally-protected behaviors and practices”…”multiple universities have reportedly been subject to OCR’s coercive ‘voluntary resolution agreement’ practices,” and offered the example of Tufts University in the Boston area, which faced a threat of having its federal funding terminated in a dispute with OCR over its handling of sexual harassment or assault complaints.
